The last time there was a lunar eclipse on Winter Solstice it was 1638. That would mean it was 104 years after Jacques Cartier landed in Canada and the French were still fighting the Iroquois for settlement and the fur trade.
In the Treaty 7 territory in which I am fortunate enough to live, there would have been no colonization (ah, for the good ole days…), and aboriginal people would have been the only people to have witnessed the lunar eclipse on the winter solstice.
How things have changed….and just think – only a year before the end of the Mayan calendar.
Comments, anyone?
